Tuesday, Sept. 10: Wild, Sour, and Brettanomyces Beers

Tuesday September 10, 6pm – 10pm

The World of Wild, Sour, and Brettanomyces Beers

We love beer here at The Owl Farm; we love hoppy beer, sweet beer, dry beer, bitter beer, beer with spices, weird beer, all beer. But the undeniable fact is that all beer, any beer at all, can not exist without yeast.

For better or for worse, yeast grows everywhere and often in unpredictable ways. Brewers have harnessed it over the years, and decided that some yeasts are bad and some are good. Brewers go to great lengths to keep unwanted yeasts and bacteria out of their beer. But sometimes wild yeast and bacteria can be a good thing.

On September 10, we’ll be exploring beers (and a cider or two) that were fermented with wild yeasts, or that have added bacteria, or that have touched wood and not just stainless steel. Beers that can be unpredictable, funky, weird, sour, tart, fruity, challenging, and most of all delicious. We hope you’ll come out and join us. As always, everything will be $2 off during the event. The tentative draft list is below:
